The clinic expansion will allow for more patients annually and expand offered services

SOUTH BEND – Indiana Health Centers will be hosting a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for our expanded Michigan Street Clinic in South Bend, Indiana on September 22, 2026 at 2 p.m. The expansion will increase the size of the clinic and allow the addition of behavioral health and additional wellness services.

The expansion project will create a more healing environment and the capacity to expand services at the Indiana Health Centers Clinic in South Bend that is shared with the Center for the Homeless. Funds will be used for upgrades, allowing for the addition of new wellness services and improve the atmosphere of the facility to provide a vibrant, welcoming space that promotes whole-person health.

“We are excited to expand the capacity of our IHC Michigan Street clinic in South Bend, which will allow us to serve more patients in the community,” said Ann Lundy, Chief Executive Officer of Indiana Health Centers. “Thanks to the generous support from the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County, we will be able to better address the whole health of our patients, make them feel more comfortable and further address their needs.”

Support for this project came from a special project grant from the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County that IHC received in spring 2026.

Stephen Camilleri, executive director of Center for the Homeless, provided support for IHC’s grant application and highlighted how IHC is meeting the needs of individuals from marginalized populations.

“We’re truly grateful for our partnership with IHC and the way it strengthens the care we’re able to offer here at the Center for the Homeless,” Camilleri said. “It means so much to us — and to the people we serve — that we can walk someone down the hall and connect them with medical or behavioral health support right when they need it. Having that level of care serving homeless individuals and families in South Bend and St. Joseph County is a gift, and we deeply appreciate IHC for making it possible.”

With the expansion of the Michigan Street clinic, IHC has the goal of increasing patient capacity from 4,000 to 4,800 patients annually.
