Let’s Talk About the Health of the Men in Indiana

June is Men's Health Month in Indiana

Every June, Men’s Health Month shines a light on the unique health challenges faced by men and boys. At Indiana Health Centers (IHC), we believe everyone in our community deserves access to high-quality, affordable, patient-centered healthcare.

The statistics tell a clear story. According to the CDC, men’s life expectancy is five years shorter than women, and the leading causes of death among men (heart disease, cancer, and unintentional injuries) are often preventable with early detection and consistent care.

This June, IHC will be focusing on three areas of men’s health:

  • Physical health: encouraging regular screenings, check-ups, and early detection of conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer.
  • Mental health: breaking the stigma that keeps men from asking for help. The CDC reports that the suicide rate among men is approximately four times higher than among women.
  • Social connection: research shows that loneliness increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, and dementia. Strong community ties are part of whole-person health.

Throughout June, follow us on social media for weekly tips, health reminders, and resources. And if you or a man in your life has been putting off a check-up, now is the time to schedule a visit. IHC believes in whole-person health and provides high-quality, affordable, patient-centered medical, dental, and behavioral health care to anyone who walks through our doors.
